Commissioning a Primitive Hooked Rug

Many people ask me to design and then make a rug for them -- usually for a special occasion, a beloved animal companion, or because they've been thinking about a rug for their home and want to have it made. The process is simple: we have a discussion about the theme, I receive photos and details about size and colors, and I make a few drawings. After a drawing is approved, we take it from there. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me about any ideas you might have. Check out the rugs on the Rug Archive page. They're grouped in categories and might give you ideas for your own rug. No two rugs are ever alike, so copies aren't possible, but similarities can be used and the result will be a one-of-a-kind piece of your own.

 Beloved animal companions..

I'm almost always working on a commission, often of the beloved animals we share our lives with. I've made rugs honoring horses, oxen, cats, and dogs. I usually get details from photos you send me and go from there. It's a wonderful way to show your love.

The birth of a new baby, a family member or friend's birthday, a wedding, new home, or anniversary gift -- these are all wonderful opportunities to give a loved one a very special gift. Initials and important dates can be incorporated to make it personalized.

My client had color ideas, wanted something geometric and bold.

My site is filled with examples of the kinds of rugs I make. There are more, just not on the site, so if you have a particular interest, let me know so that I can send you more samples. But, in the end, you will be receiving a rug that is one-of-a-kind, distinctly just yours.
